There is a difference between the Pilates instruction you receive at Women's Physical Therapy and in a recreational setting. Pilates, when privately instructed by a trained therapist, is designed to activate the correct muscles, create change in position and alignment, and re-balance your structure.
The physical therapy goal when introducing Pilates into your therapy program is to reduce and eliminate your pain, repair your dysfunction, increase your awareness of your correct and incorrect posture and movements, and optimize your strength, flexibility and stability - plus, if you want, you get a great toned body!
