Welcome and anticipate a great, new year.   All of us at Women’s Physical Therapy are looking forward to new and enriching experiences in our physical therapy practice. Our therapists will be expanding their knowledge and therapeutic  skills with more education, while our administrative staff will be consistently updating their knowledge and keeping pace with the ever changing healthcare and insurance issues that impact all of us.  Our staff will also continue to grow with the addition of new, skilled therapists to assist all of our patients achieve their physical therapy goals.

This New Year Issue is dedicated to our current physical therapists who strive to help you heal and thrive.

Gail Pekelis

Gail Pekelis

Gail has provided physical therapy services throughout Southern California for 22 years. Her breadth of experience ranges from neurological and orthopedic conditions to breast cancer rehabilitation and high-risk pregnancy.

Gail has contracted with home uterine monitoring companies from Santa Barbara to San Diego to provide physical therapy services to high risk pregnant women on bed rest. Gail treats men and women experiencing pain and dysfunction in both her Santa Monica and Beverly Hills offices, as well as providing aquatic physical therapy in local pool facilities.

While working as a physical therapist, Gail earned her certification in complete decongestive therapy. She uses these skills in manual lymph drainage with post reconstructive surgical individuals; lymphedema and post-breast-cancer physical therapy.

Over the past 22 years as a physical therapy clinician, Gail has developed programs addressing the physical therapy needs of many conditions. These include male and female incontinence, pelvic pain syndromes and breast cancer rehabilitation.

In addition to providing physical therapy, Gail has taught courses relating to men's and women's health at Santa Monica College and Mount Saint Mary's college. Gail is married and has four children, one grandson and many years of acquiring skills, knowledge, and resources to offer the men and women with whom she treats.

 

Nicolette Theard

Nicolette Theard

Nicky graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from UCLA in 1987. Thereafter she embarked on a career path in health promotions and exercise physiology spanning the globe from Los Angeles to Asia and Europe.

She later received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from USC in 2000. Since then she has specialized in manual therapy for orthopedic disorders, pregnancy and postpartum issues, neurological disorders and sports injuries particularly related to golf, tennis and volleyball.

As the Clinical Director, she is also very proud of her most recent accomplishment: co-developing the Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Program at Women's Physical Therapy.

Nicky enjoys fitness training, golf, tennis, traveling and cherishes her family and friends.

 

Anita Russek-Lendach, MSPT

Alisha Russek

Anita Russek-Lendach loves her career as a physical therapist, especially empowering women with the tools to care for themselves.  She joined Women's Physical Therapy in 2004 and is constantly trying to bring more skills and knowledge to her treatment repertoire.

She combines hand-on skills with movement therapies (such as Pilates and Yoga) and tailors each person's treatment to her specific needs and desires. 

Her hands-on skills include treating pelvic issues, organ dysfunction, and integrating the energetic systems with the mechanical systems.  Prior to this position, she worked with the older woman, developing focuses in areas such as incontinence and osteoporosis.

While not working, she enjoys being active outdoors, travelling, eating, being creative, and living life with her wonderful husband.
